DESCRIPTION:This workshop is for health care providers and staff who provide direct care to people with behaviour changes due to dementia or other cognitive impairment. This workshop offers the participants an opportunity to build on and practice skills gained from dementia training programs (such as U-First!). Through therapeutic art activities inspired by the season\, participants will have the opportunity to explore creativity\, self-expression\, connection\, and wellbeing in a welcoming outdoor setting. \nThe program includes a picnic lunch\, all art supplies\, and guided activities designed to be accessible and enjoyable for all abilities. No artistic experience is necessary – just curiosity\, creativity\, and a willingness to explore. Come enjoy fresh air\, good company\, and a meaningful afternoon of art and connection. \nFacilitated by Tamiko Potts\, a Toronto-based multidisciplinary artist and student art psychotherapist studying at the Canadian International Institute of Art Therapy who believes creativity can help people connect\, reflect\, and find joy in everyday moments. DESCRIPTION:Facing Dementia Together is a problem-solving workshop for unpaid care partners of persons living with dementia. It offers a safe and supportive space to learn\, reflect\, and build skills to manage daily caregiving challenges. \n  \nIn this one-day\, in-person small-group workshop\, you will receive: \n\nSimple tools to solve daily caregiving problems\nHands-on coaching with experienced group leaders to practice new strategies\nThe chance to connect with others who understand your experience\n\n  \nSession dates: \nWorkshop: Wednesday July 29\, 2026 – 9:00am-5:00pm (in-person at AST Head office) \nFollow-up session one: Tuesday August 11\, 2026  – 10:00am-11:30am (online via Zoom) \nFollow-up session two: Tuesday August 25\, 2026 – 10:00am-11:30am (online via Zoom) \n  \n  \nIf registration is closed or this schedule does not work for you at this time\, you are encouraged to fill out the form on this webpage: https://alz.to/programs/support-services/enhancing-care-program/. \n  \nRegistration and an assessment are prerequisites. Registration closes on Thursday July 23rd. An Enhancing Care Clinician in the Social Work Department will contact you for your assessment. Phone screenings usually take 10-15 minutes. With easy to follow moves that can be done seated or standing\, this upbeat class is set to positive\, playful and uplifting music. You will be motivated by the joyful\, welcoming and supportive environment that encourages you to let go and have fun! No experience required. \nJenn Hicks is a Personal Trainer Size and Inclusive Fitness Specialist who has taught dance fitness classes for the past 17 years. She was named NOW Magazine’s Best Virtual Fitness Instructor for 2020. Jenn customizes routines for every class and helps attendees modify steps or movements whenever they need a little extra care. \nThis program will be held on Zoom.
