DESCRIPTION:Losing someone who had dementia can be a unique and complex experience for those who cared for them. This presentation will explore these issues\, identify various approaches to grief\, and suggest ways for care partners to cope with loss. \n  \nThis workshop will incorporate a support group element. \n  \nPlease note this workshop is only for informal care partners (friends\, family\, etc) of a person living with dementia. This workshop is NOT for healthcare professionals. \n\nWorkshop will be presented using Zoom\, registration required to receive link.

DESCRIPTION:Facing Dementia Together is a problem-solving workshop for unpaid care partners of persons living with dementia. It offers a safe and supportive space to learn\, reflect\, and build skills to manage daily caregiving challenges. \n  \nIn this one-day\, in-person small-group workshop\, you will receive: \n\nSimple tools to solve daily caregiving problems\nHands-on coaching with experienced group leaders to practice new strategies\nThe chance to connect with others who understand your experience\n\n  \nSession dates: \nWorkshop: Wednesday October 28\, 2026 – 9:00am-4:15pm (in-person at AST Head office) \nFollow-up session one: Tuesday November 10\, 2026 – 11:15am-12:45pm (online via Zoom) \nFollow-up session two: Tuesday November 24\, 2026 – 11:15am-12:45pm (online via Zoom) \n  \nNote: The Facing Dementia Together Workshop is a new addition to the Enhancing Care Program (https://carersontario.ca/) created by the Reitman Centre at Mt. Sinai Hospital. \nIf registration is closed or this schedule does not work for you at this time\, you are encouraged to fill out the form on this webpage. Additionally\, you can check out our ongoing support groups that are available for registration month-to-month. See a list of upcoming support groups here. \nRegistration and an assessment are prerequisites. Registration closes on Friday October 23rd. An Enhancing Care Clinician in the Social Work Department will contact you as part of the screening process. Phone screenings usually take 10-15 minutes. Assessments can be done in-person or via Zoom and usually take 30-90 minutes.
