SUMMARY:Miniature Diorama Art Series with Roxanne
DESCRIPTION:4-Week Series on Wednesdays\, April 8th – April 29th from 1:30 – 3:00 P.M at AST located at 20 Eglinton Ave West\, 16th floor.  \nJoin our creative in-person Miniature Diorama workshop series\, designed for individuals living with mild to moderate dementia and their caregivers. Roxanne Brathwaite will lead this program where we will return to a childhood pastime and re-create an interior that captures a moment in time shrunk to 1:6 scale (think Barbie’s size). \nRoxanne Brathwaite is a Toronto-based maker who creates richly detailed miniature environments inspired by texture\, materiality\, and design history. Her miniature dioramas centred around warmth\, safety\, and emotional connection\, her work invites viewers into intimate spaces while also addressing social issues such as domestic abuse\, dementia\, and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. Roxanne is a Season 1 contestant on CBC Gem/Netflix Canada’s Best in Miniature\, has led workshops at the Gardiner Museum and Jamie Esplanade—which was nominated for a Toronto Heritage Award. SUMMARY:Living with Ambiguous Loss Support Group
DESCRIPTION:This 4-week online caregiver support group will provide an opportunity for care partners of individuals living with dementia to come together to support each other through the caregiving experience\, with a structured focus on the concept of “Ambiguous Loss”. This group is inspired by Pauline Boss’ book “Loving Someone With Dementia“. \nLearning Objectives \n\nDevelop an understanding of the concept of “Ambiguous Loss” and ambiguous loss in the context of dementia\, and how this unique type of loss differs from other losses\nDevelop coping strategies to implement in their own lives\nObtain a better understanding of their own experiences of grief related to caring for their family member\nEngage in self reflection and share insights related to their caregiving experience\nLearn from others on adjusting to the losses and their own changing relationship to self and others\n\n  \nThis group will run for four consecutive weeks online using Zoom. Zoom information will be provided via email at least 24-48 hours prior to the start date. \nSession dates:\nThursdays from 10am–12pm\, starting April 23rd ending May 14th \n\nWeek 1 – April 23rd\nWeek 2 – April 30th\nWeek 3 – May 7th\nWeek 4 – May 14th\n\n* Please note\, participants are expected to commit to all 4 sessions listed above. She was named NOW Magazine’s Best Virtual Fitness Instructor for 2020. Jenn customizes routines for every class and helps attendees modify steps or movements whenever they need a little extra care. \nThis program will be held on Zoom. DESCRIPTION:Are you part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and caring for an individual diagnosed with OR suspected of having cognitive impairment?\nThis monthly caregiver support group will provide an opportunity for care partners who are part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to share and learn with other care partners in a supportive and inclusive environment. \nParticipants decide on the focus and direction of the group\, and both practical and emotional needs are explored. \nThis support group meets on the last Thursday of every month from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm online using Zoom \nPlease fill out the following form to be added to the waitlist to join the ongoing support group:\n(Once there is room in the group\, the facilitator(s) will contact you for a brief telephone screening.
