This is an opportunity to enjoy simple refreshments and make new friends in a Dementia Friendly Community Space. \nThe Community Connections Cafe focuses on social wellness for people with memory loss or Dementia\, and their care partners. The program is informal with the intended atmosphere of a local coffee shop where participants can chat over a beverage\, do something creative\, or play a game. \n  \nEvery 3rd Wednesday of the month from 2:30pm to 4:30pm In-person at our AST Head Office\nLocation: 20 Eglinton Ave West\, 16th Floor\, Toronto\n(Northwest corner of Yonge and Eglinton\, across the street from Yonge and Eglinton subway station. DESCRIPTION:Too often\, clients shared that they wish they had learned what they would learn later in their journey but much earlier\, expressing how key insight on the dementia experience would have improved their overall dementia journey.\nThis brand-new support group was designed by AST social workers in collaboration with caregivers\, people experiencing cognitive changes\, and various dementia specialists to offer key insight at the start of the dementia journey for the care partner.\nOur experience tells us that the earlier you know what you know\, the better your overall caregiving journey. \nEach session will focus on a key theme. It consists of four weekly group sessions that are each 90 minutes long. \nLearning objectives: \n\nCoaches care partners in practical communication and coping skills\nFocus on common caregiving themes including; self-care\, healthcare system navigation\, relationship changes and future planning\nProvides opportunity to share and learn from other care partners\n\nSession dates:\nThursdays from 10:30am–12:00pm\, starting October 8 and ending October 29. \n\nWeek 1 – Thursday October 8\, 2026\nWeek 2 – Thursday October 15\, 2026\nWeek 3 – Thursday October 22\, 2026\nWeek 4 – Thursday October 29\, 2026\n\nPlease note\, participants are expected to commit to all 4 sessions listed above. DESCRIPTION:The Community Connections Café is a welcoming space where people with memory loss or Dementia\, and their care partners\, can come to connect with others and support their brain health while socializing. This is an opportunity to enjoy simple refreshments and make new friends in a Dementia Friendly Community Space. \nThe Community Connections Cafe focuses on social wellness for people with memory loss or Dementia\, and their care partners. The program is informal with the intended atmosphere of a local coffee shop where participants can chat over a beverage\, do something creative\, or play a game. \n  \nEvery 3rd Wednesday of the month from 2:30pm to 4:30pm In-person at our AST Head Office\nLocation: 20 Eglinton Ave West\, 16th Floor\, Toronto\n(Northwest corner of Yonge and Eglinton\, across the street from Yonge and Eglinton subway station. Our office tower is to the left of Metro Grocery) \n  \nRegistration is required for this program and closes at midnight (12am) the day prior to the event.\nPlease specify the number of guests attending when you register. DESCRIPTION:Too often\, clients shared that they wish they had learned what they would learn later in their journey but much earlier\, expressing how key insight on the dementia experience would have improved their overall dementia journey.\nThis brand-new support group was designed by AST social workers in collaboration with caregivers\, people experiencing cognitive changes\, and various dementia specialists to offer key insight at the start of the dementia journey for the care partner.\nOur experience tells us that the earlier you know what you know\, the better your overall caregiving journey. \nEach session will focus on a key theme. SUMMARY:Individual Art Therapy with Tamiko Potts
DESCRIPTION:6 Week\, Fridays from October 23 – November 27th at AST located at 20 Eglinton Ave West\, 16th floor. \nChoose ONE of the time slots below: \n10:30 – 11:30 AM \n1:00 – 2:00 PM \n2:30 – 3:30 PM \n\n\n\nFacilitated by student art psychotherapist Tamiko Potts\, these one-to-one sessions are for people living with mild to moderate dementia alone or with a care partner. These sessions use the creative process to support self-expression\, emotional wellbeing\, identity\, and connection. Through art-making and guided reflection\, participants are invited to explore memories\, strengths\, relationships\, emotions\, and meaningful life experiences in a way that is accessible and adaptable to changing cognitive abilities. Sessions are individualized and may incorporate visual art\, sensory experiences\, mindfulness\, reminiscence\, and nature-based approaches. No artistic experience is necessary. \nTamiko Potts is a Toronto-based multidisciplinary artist and student art psychotherapist studying at the Canadian International Institute of Art Therapy who believes creativity can help people connect\, reflect\, and find joy in everyday moments. Drawing from their background in visual arts\, storytelling and community engagement\, they create inclusive and welcoming spaces.
