SUMMARY:Peer Support Group for Care Partners
DESCRIPTION:Our peer-led support groups provide care partners with the opportunity to discuss both practical and emotional needs related to caring for a family member with Alzheimer’s Disease or other dementias. These groups are facilitated by volunteers who have lived experience as care partners and have received training on group facilitation. Participants and peer facilitators decide on the focus and direction of the group. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nProvide a safe setting which promotes mutual support\, both practical and emotional\, throughout the course of the disease\nEnhance care partner’s knowledge of the illness\, available supports\, and coping strategies.\n\nThis group meets online on the second Friday of every month from 10:30am to 12:00pm. \nRegistration and a short pre-screening are required before attending this support group. \nFor more information about this peer support group or other peer support groups\, please contact intake@alz.to or complete the interest form below \n*Disclaimer: We kindly ask that you complete the interest form if you are interested in attending. DESCRIPTION:This monthly caregiver support group will provide an opportunity for caregivers of individuals living with dementia residing in long-term care to come together to share personal feelings and support each other through the caregiving experience. \nShould you choose to participate in this group please know that we expect you to observe the strictest confidentiality. SUMMARY:EASE Session 1: Supporting the Symptoms of Dementia
DESCRIPTION:The E.A.S.E program is a 4 session program developed for PSWs currently working with persons living with dementia. \nThe program will engage PSWs in dementia education\, giving practical tools to improve the level of care and support provided to persons living with dementia and the PSW – a real-life approach. PSW’s will leave each session with tools/ideas to use right away on the job. \nNOTE: Each session is a stand-alone but can be taken in tandem. Registration is required for each session. Learners who complete all four sessions within a 1 year period (April-March) will be eligible for a certificate acknowledging their participation. \nDates:\nThursdays\, November 7th\, 14th\, 21st\, and 28th. \nTime:\n12pm – 1pm \nSession 1 – Supporting Symptoms of Dementia\nIn this session we explore the symptoms of dementia\, what they may look like and the impact they can have when giving support to person’s living with dementia. \nThe presentation will be online via Zoom\, and you will receive the Zoom link after you register.
