SUMMARY:EASE Session 1: Supporting the Symptoms of Dementia
DESCRIPTION:The E.A.S.E program is a 4 session program developed for PSWs currently working with persons living with dementia. \nThe program will engage PSWs in dementia education\, giving practical tools to improve the level of care and support provided to persons living with dementia and the PSW – a real-life approach. PSW’s will leave each session with tools/ideas to use right away on the job. \nNOTE: Each session is a stand-alone but can be taken in tandem. Registration is required for each session. Learners who complete all four sessions within a 1 year period (April-March) will be eligible for a certificate acknowledging their participation. \nDates:\nThursdays\, November 7th\, 14th\, 21st\, and 28th. \nTime:\n12pm – 1pm \nSession 1 – Supporting Symptoms of Dementia\nIn this session we explore the symptoms of dementia\, what they may look like and the impact they can have when giving support to person’s living with dementia. \nThe presentation will be online via Zoom\, and you will receive the Zoom link after you register.

DESCRIPTION:Join The Power of Music with Steve – Our 6-week Virtual Music Program! \nThis program explores different musical genres though live musical performances and engaging conversations such as music on Broadway\, music and meditation\, great composers\, jazz\, musical improvisation\, and music and memories! It is an hour of pure joy and fun! \nNovember 6th\, 13th\, 20th\, 27th\, December 4th & 11th 2024. \nSteve Koven is a composer\, performer\, producer\, educator\, and filmmaker. His band the Steve Koven Trio has toured the world for more than two decades\, and they have been coined the ‘Canadian Cultural Ambassadors’. As an educator\, Steve has been teaching in the Faculty of Music at Toronto’s York University\, teaching Contemporary Improvisation and Jazz Piano Studies. Led by horticultural therapy practitioner and forest therapy guide\, Emma Rooney\, this group is a supported place to get your weekly dose of nature. Each session includes a short nature meditation\, a wondrous plant tour\, and a fun botanical art activity. As we head into cooler temperatures and darker days\, find encouragement for staying connected to nature to boost your health and mental well-being! \nThis program will be held on Zoom. Participants will be mailed program materials and expected to collect some simple supplies on their own (instructions provided). \nThis series is intended for people caring for those who are living with dementia.
