You will be motivated by the joyful\, welcoming and supportive environment that encourages you to let go and have fun! No experience required. \nJenn Hicks is a Personal Trainer Size and Inclusive Fitness Specialist who has taught dance fitness classes for the past 17 years. She was named NOW Magazine’s Best Virtual Fitness Instructor for 2020. Jenn customizes routines for every class and helps attendees modify steps or movements whenever they need a little extra care. \nThis program will be held on Zoom. SUMMARY:Miniature Diorama Art Series with Roxanne
DESCRIPTION:4-Week Series on Wednesdays\, April 8th – April 29th from 1:30 – 3:00 P.M at AST located at 20 Eglinton Ave West\, 16th floor.  \nJoin our creative in-person Miniature Diorama workshop series\, designed for individuals living with mild to moderate dementia and their caregivers. Roxanne Brathwaite will lead this program where we will return to a childhood pastime and re-create an interior that captures a moment in time shrunk to 1:6 scale (think Barbie’s size). \nRoxanne Brathwaite is a Toronto-based maker who creates richly detailed miniature environments inspired by texture\, materiality\, and design history. Her miniature dioramas centred around warmth\, safety\, and emotional connection\, her work invites viewers into intimate spaces while also addressing social issues such as domestic abuse\, dementia\, and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. Roxanne is a Season 1 contestant on CBC Gem/Netflix Canada’s Best in Miniature\, has led workshops at the Gardiner Museum and Jamie Esplanade—which was nominated for a Toronto Heritage Award. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an in-person 6-part walking series and enjoy activating your body in the beauty of nature. Get your steps in and then enjoy a chat with a drink in the cafe – on us! \nThis series is appropriate for people living with dementia and their care partners who love walking! SUMMARY:Retirement & LTC Caregiver Support Group
DESCRIPTION:This monthly caregiver support group will provide an opportunity for care partners of individuals diagnosed with OR suspected of having cognitive impairment residing in a long-term care or a retirement home environment to come together to share personal feelings and support each other through the caregiving experience. \nShould you choose to participate in this group please know that we expect you to observe the strictest confidentiality. In order to participate in this group\, the person you support must have some cognitive impairment and you or the resident must live in the M postal code. \nTo guide discussion\, the group will focus on different themes relating to long-term care and retirement home environments. Themes that will be discussed include: \n\nTransition to a retirement/long-term care home\nManaging feelings of guilt\, relief\, and sadness\nHow to prepare for meetings with staff and what to expect\nGrief and Ambiguous Loss\nAdvanced Health Care Planning\nWhat are responsive behaviours and why do they happen?\nActivities to engage the person you are supporting\nSpecial Occasions\n\n  \nEvery 1st Thursday of the month from 5:30pm to 7:00pm online using Zoom\n(Zoom information will be provided via email at least 24-48 hours prior to the date) \n  \n*Disclaimer: Registration for this group closes on the Monday prior to the session. DESCRIPTION:The TEACH (Training\, Education\, and Assistance for Caregiving at Home) Program is a support group for unpaid caregivers of persons with dementia which consists of 4 weekly group sessions that are each 90 minutes long. \nLearning objectives: \n\nFocus on common caregiving themes including self-care\, healthcare system navigation\, relationship changes\, and future planning\nCoaches care partners in practical communication and coping skills\nProvides opportunity to share and learn from other care partners\n\nSession dates:\nFridays from 10:00am–11:30am\, May 8th to May 29th \n\nWeek 1 – May 8th\, 2026\nWeek 2 – May 15th\, 2026\nWeek 3 – May 22nd\, 2026\nWeek 4 – May 29th\, 2026\n\nPlease note\, participants are expected to commit to all 4 sessions listed above. Kindly register only if these dates work for you. \nIf registration is closed or this schedule does not work for you at this time\, you are encouraged to fill out the form on this webpage: https://alz.to/programs/support-services/enhancing-care-program/. Additionally\, you can check out our ongoing support groups that are available for registration month-to-month.
