SUMMARY:Understanding Parkinson’s Disease: Recognizing Symptoms\, Understanding Treatments\, and Updates on the Latest Research
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will explain what Parkinson’s Disease is\, how it is related to dementia\, risk factors associated with Parkinson’s Disease\, and strategies/support for people living with Parkinson’s Disease. It will introduce how to address these risk factors\, as well as existing treatments. \nThe webinar will also explore a study at the University of Toronto that is looking for participants. The study looks at how people living with dementia and their care partners access and use assistive technology products (e.g. reminder apps\, safety devices). \n  \nAbout the presenters: \nDr. Priti Gros is a dedicated Neurologist specializing in the care of adult patients with movement or mobility problems\, mostly Parkinson disease. She is currently a clinical associate at the Toronto Western Hospital Movement Disorders Clinic. She is currently pursuing a PhD in clinical epidemiology under the supervision of Drs Connie Marras and Susan Bronskill. She is also a member of the Boards of Directors for Dancing with Parkinson’s Canada. \nNadia Mirjan is a PhD Candidate at the University of Toronto\, where she is leading the study Dementia Management in Canada: Assistive Technology Products and Services Bundles under the supervision of Dr. Rosalie H. Wang. The study explores how people living with dementia\, their care partners\, and healthcare providers across Canada experience accessing and using assistive technology products (such as reminder apps\, safety devices\, or mobility aids) and the services that support them. By understanding these experiences\, Nadia’s research aims to inform the development of bundled product-and-service packages that make it easier and more affordable for people managing dementia to get the supports they need. \n  \n  \nThis webinar is free to attend and is presented in plain language. You will also have the opportunity ask questions. \nClick Here to Register for the Event.
