The Alzheimer Society of Toronto has partnered with Hospice Palliative Care Ontario to offer a workshop for front-line healthcare professionals aimed at promoting quality of life and comfort for individuals living with dementias.
Issues such as expectations, needs, hopes and fears of a dying person as well as offering support in addressing physical, psychological, social, spiritual and cultural aspects regarding life closure and the dying process are discussed.
Learning Objectives
Gain awareness, knowledge, skills, value and principles of Hospice Palliative Care in the context of how to address:
- Care needs, issues, common fears and expectations of individuals living with dementia at the late and end-stages of the disease
- The needs and concerns of individuals involved in delivering care are also discussed
