SUMMARY:Adult Child CARERS Program
DESCRIPTION:This 8-week online program is for adult child care partners of people with mid- to late-stage dementia (this typically means people caring for a parent\, but can include anyone who is the primary unpaid caregiver of a person with dementia). \nDeveloped by the Reitman Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital\, CARERS is a comprehensive dementia care support group that supports problem-solving skill development and introduces the innovative use of standardized patients – actors trained to simulate real-life situations – so that caregivers\, guided by expert clinical coaches\, will learn how to address communication challenges. DESCRIPTION:Are you part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and caring for an individual diagnosed with OR suspected of having cognitive impairment?\nThis monthly caregiver support group will provide an opportunity for care partners who are part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to share and learn with other care partners in a supportive and inclusive environment. \nParticipants decide on the focus and direction of the group\, and both practical and emotional needs are explored. \nThis support group meets on the last Thursday of every month from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm online using Zoom \nPlease fill out the following form to be added to the waitlist to join the ongoing support group:\n(Once there is room in the group\, the facilitator(s) will contact you for a brief telephone screening.
