DESCRIPTION:Description: \nJoin us for an update on new Alzheimer’s treatments and how they may impact everyday life for individuals and families affected by the disease. We’ll cover what’s new\, what’s promising\, and what these developments mean for care today and in the future. \nPresented in partnership with the University Health Network Krembil Memory Clinic and the Alzheimer Society of Toronto. \n  \nAbout the Presenter \nDr. Tartaglia is a cognitive neurologist at the UHN Memory Clinic where she sees patients with neurodegenerative diseases and those with concussions who have persisting symptoms. She is a scientist and Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. She holds the Marion and Gerald Soloway Chair in Brain Injury and Concussion Research. She uses a multi-modal approach that combines imaging and biofluid biomarkers to better diagnose and understand the pathological substrates that cause cognitive\, behavioral and motoric dysfunction. The goal of her research program is to develop biomarkers for early detection of disease to bring precision medicine and targeted\, early treatments to her patients. \n

DESCRIPTION:U-First!® for Care Partners is an interactive education program for informal care partners (family\, friends\, neighbours) who are providing direct unpaid support to someone experiencing behaviour changes as a result of dementia or other cognitive impairment. \nThis education program focuses on: \n\nEnhancing the well-being of care partners and of the person they are supporting who is experiencing behaviour changes\nReducing responsive behaviours by using the U-First!® framework\nImproving collaboration among all team members through a common knowledge\, language and approach to care\n\n  \nMandatory Session Dates:\nThursday\, November 6th from 6:00pm-8:00pm\nThursday\, November 13th from 6:00pm-8:00pm\nThursday\, November 20th from 6:00pm-8:00pm \nOptional Session Date:\nThursday\, November 27th from 6:00pm-8:00pm \n  \nWhat’s the cost for the program?\nThere is no cost for participants of the U-First!® for Care Partners. \n  \nPlease note that there will be an additional screening of all interested participants to ensure there is a fit between the program and participant.\nScreening will commence in October\, and you can expect a screening call 2-4 weeks before the first session.
