Join us for chats and check in’s along with interactive PowerPoint games, provided by a Recreation Therapist. Chats and check ins vary according to the week while games vary between brain games.

Music and History of Songs with Dorothy – Active Minds Club

Come and enjoy an hour of live music, provided by Dorothy M. Davies! Dorothy is the founder of Cornerstone Music Therapy and is an accredited music therapist (MTA) with advanced training in neurologic music therapy. Songs vary from week to week and clients are free to share song requests and preferences for future sessions. 

Wednesdays – July 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm

Non-Impact Aerobics (NIA) – ONLINE

Non-Impact Aerobics (NIA) uses easy to follow movements to build strength and flexibility while conditioning your body. The sessions are adapted and sensitive to all levels of agility and are suitable for individuals who want the support of being seated throughout the class. Wear comfortable clothing and footwear.

Over the summer, this program is offered 1x weekly, on Tuesdays.

TUESDAYS – July 6, 13, 20 and 27 and August 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Art with Melodie – Active Minds Club

Join us for an interactive and therapeutic Art session with Melodie and Kristyn. Melodie and Kristyn are certified Art Therapists. Together they lead creative and hands on group art activities using materials from an Art Kit. Art activities vary from painting to creating a craft along with a reflection portion. Please reach out to Chantel at ccosta@schcontario.ca for an Art Kit for this session.

Boomers Club – ONLINE

The Boomers Club focuses on wellness for people with Early Onset Dementia and their care partners. In this online series, we will be creating informal connections among people who are on the same journey while engaging in a variety of recreational activities including art, games, exercise, food, social chats and more. The program is flexible and can be modified based on the needs and interests of the group participants.

Join the facilitator, Heather from 4:30 – 5:30 P.M. 

Wednesday, July 14 – Our own Boomers Club volunteer, Molly is planning a fun evening of games and chats! 

Wednesday, July 28 – Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) Highlights – The ROM has over 13 million objects in its encyclopedic collections; objects collected over more than a century from all over Canada and around the world. This program with ROM volunteers is an exploration of 4 or 5 objects from collections which cover the history, both natural and cultural, of our planet. This program includes audio description, sensory activities and a Q&A component.
