Music Therapy with Justis – Active Minds Club

Come and enjoy an hour of live music, provided by Justis! Justis is a Music Therapist with Miya Music Therapy. Join us for a Sing-A-Long with Justis and his guitar to popular oldies.

Mondays – August 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm

The Active Minds Club offers an inclusive space online for recreation, cognitive, and social stimulation, while extending respite opportunities for caregivers. This program is intended for persons living with young onset dementia, early stages of dementia and mild cognitive impairment. Join us throughout the month for a variety of programs! These programs will be held on Zoom.

Registration is required to receive the Zoom link to participate.

Minds in Motion is a unique opportunity for persons living with dementia and their care partner to attend a program together, with benefits for all. Each class begins with some gentle group exercise followed by an engaging and stimulating social recreation program. Laughter and new friendships are often a result as participants exercise both their bodies and minds

 
Monday and Wednesday mornings from 10:00 am to 11:30 am (no session on Monday, August 2nd – Civic Holiday)
 
To register, please call our office at 519-742-1422
 
* This offering runs twice weekly and participants who register are asked to attend both sessions. Participants may still register if they are only able to attend one of the two days.

Games and Chats with Chantel Active Minds Club

Join us for chats and check in’s along with interactive PowerPoint games, provided by a Recreation Therapist. Chats and check ins vary according to the week while games vary between brain games.

Fridays – August 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Laughter Yoga with Cathy – Active Minds Club (ONLINE)

Join us for a Laughter Yoga session, provided by Cathy Nesbitt! Cathy specializes in all things Laughter Yoga. Cathy leads the group through fun and breathing exercises. A screen full of happy smiling faces is the restorative tonic we can all use!

Music and History of Songs with Dorothy – Active Minds Club

Come and enjoy an hour of live music, provided by Dorothy M. Davies! Dorothy is the founder of Cornerstone Music Therapy and is an accredited music therapist (MTA) with advanced training in neurologic music therapy. Songs vary from week to week and clients are free to share song requests and preferences for future sessions. 

Wednesdays – August 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm

This program is designed specifically for those living with a Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) diagnosis. Participate independently or with a partner.
