In this series\, we create purposeful connections among people who are on similar journeys while engaging in a variety of engaging activities including art making\, games\, creative movement\, cooking\, meaningful conversations and more. This month we are collaborating with LUMP Studios! \nMid-Town Social: Pottery Making  \nJoin us for a relaxing and creative pottery making session. In this hands-on session\, you’ll explore the basics of working with air dry clay while creating your own unique piece in a welcoming and supportive environment. The workshop encourages creativity\, self-expression\, and social connection through the calming\, tactile experience of hand-building with clay. \nAbout LUMP Studio \nLUMP Studio is a collaborative ceramic practice by Yvette Yanne and Liz Lau. Between us\, we have over 20 years of experience working with clay in the UK\, Hong Kong\, and Canada. \nWe love bringing people together through hands-on clay experiences that are welcoming\, creative\, and accessible to all. SUMMARY:Group Art Therapy with Tamiko Potts
DESCRIPTION:4 Weeks\, Mondays September 14th – October 5th from 1:30 – 3:00 PM at AST located at 20 Eglinton Ave West\, 16th floor. \nThis art therapy program is for people living with mild to moderate dementia and their care partners. Through artmaking\, sensory exploration\, and mindfulness-inspired activities\, participants will be invited to connect with creativity\, self-expression\, and one another in a relaxed and supportive environment. Together we will explore fall-themed experiences through collage\, nature-based artmaking and mindfulness practices. Participants will be invited to reflect on themes of harvest\, gratitude\, comfort\, connection\, and seasonal change through creative expression. No artistic experience is necessary – just curiosity\, creativity\, and a willingness to explore. \nThe series is facilitated by Tamiko Potts\, a Toronto-based multidisciplinary artist and student art psychotherapist studying at the Canadian International Institute of Art Therapy who believes creativity can help people connect\, reflect\, and find joy in everyday moments. It offers a safe and supportive space to learn\, reflect\, and build skills to manage daily caregiving challenges. \n  \nIn this one-day\, in-person small-group workshop\, you will receive: \n\nSimple tools to solve daily caregiving problems\nHands-on coaching with experienced group leaders to practice new strategies\nThe chance to connect with others who understand your experience\n\n  \nSession dates: \nWorkshop: Wednesday October 28\, 2026 – 9:00am-4:15pm (in-person at AST Head office) \nFollow-up session one: Tuesday November 10\, 2026 – 11:15am-12:45pm (online via Zoom) \nFollow-up session two: Tuesday November 24\, 2026 – 11:15am-12:45pm (online via Zoom) \n  \nNote: The Facing Dementia Together Workshop is a new addition to the Enhancing Care Program (https://carersontario.ca/) created by the Reitman Centre at Mt. The vision is to provide every member of the care team with consistent education on key skills and best care practices.
