Miniature Diorama Art Series with Roxanne
Categories: Active Living, Art

| 4-Week Series on Wednesdays, April 8th – April 29th from 1:30 – 3:00 P.M at AST located at 20 Eglinton Ave West, 16th floor.
Join our creative in-person Miniature Diorama workshop series, designed for individuals living with mild to moderate dementia and their caregivers. Roxanne Brathwaite will lead this program where we will return to a childhood pastime and re-create an interior that captures a moment in time shrunk to 1:6 scale (think Barbie’s size). Roxanne Brathwaite is a Toronto-based maker who creates richly detailed miniature environments inspired by texture, materiality, and design history. Her miniature dioramas centred around warmth, safety, and emotional connection, her work invites viewers into intimate spaces while also addressing social issues such as domestic abuse, dementia, and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. Roxanne is a Season 1 contestant on CBC Gem/Netflix Canada’s Best in Miniature, has led workshops at the Gardiner Museum and Jamie Esplanade—which was nominated for a Toronto Heritage Award. She has exhibited with DesignTO, and is a 2023 recipient of the International Guild of Miniature Artisans (IGMA) Scholarship.
