Wednesday, October 9th, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Alzheimer Society of Toronto Head Office located at 20 Eglinton Ave W, 16th Floor.
Mid-Town Social focuses on social wellness for people with Dementia and their care partners. In this series, we create purposeful connections among people who are on similar journeys while engaging in a variety of engaging activities including art making, games, creative movement, cooking, meaningful conversations and more. The program is flexible and will be catered to the interests and needs of the group participants. Let’s come together, break bread, have a laugh and be creative together.

Dance Fitness – Zoom

This gentle low impact dance fitness class with Jenn uses diverse music and simple dance movements to create a dynamic and energizing aerobic workout. With easy to follow moves that can be done seated or standing, this upbeat class is set to positive, playful and uplifting music. You will be motivated by the joyful, welcoming and supportive environment that encourages you to let go and have fun! No experience required.

Jenn Hicks is a Personal Trainer Size and Inclusive Fitness Specialist who has taught dance fitness classes for the past 17 years. She was named NOW Magazine’s Best Virtual Fitness Instructor for 2020. Jenn customizes routines for every class and helps attendees modify steps or movements whenever they need a little extra care.

This program will be held on Zoom. Registration is required to receive the Zoom link to participate.

Join us for an in-person Social/Recreation program.

Join our monthly social at our Mid-Scarborough Hub! This program is an opportunity to meet like minded people, to engage in meaningful conversations, tap into our creativity and get active. This two hour social is a great way to find your community and partake in gentle movement to great playlists. East End Friends is intended for people living with dementia and their care partners, and it is offered through a culturally inclusive, accessible and dementia-friendly lens. Light refreshments will be served.

AGO Art Talk Museum Tour (IN-PERSON)

Tuesday, September 17th from 2:00 P.M – 3:00 P.M

This is a one-hour guided tour of the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) for people living with dementia and their caregivers. The tour and art program is facilitated by an experienced AGO Docent and is assisted by Alzheimer Society of Toronto Staff and Volunteers.

Please note: Your ticket will be valid for the rest of the day so please feel free to explore the museum after the guided tour.

Xenia Concert: Schmaltz and Pepper

Saturday, September 14th from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M at Meridian Art Center located at 5040 Yonge St. North York, M2N 6R8.

In partnership with TO Live, Alzheimer Society of Toronto, and One Health Partners, Xenia Concerts is proud to Schmaltz and Pepper!

Join us for an Intergenerational Adaptive Concert with Schmaltz and Pepper, Toronto’s newest sensation in the world of Yiddish music! This hour-long, family-friendly event is designed to welcome and support neurodivergent and disabled attendees, people living with dementia, and their caregivers.

Concert Accessibility Features:

  • All expressions welcome! Feel free to make noise, get up, or stim!
  • Wheelchair accessible venue
  • Gender-neutral, wheelchair accessible washrooms
  • Accessible PDF concert programs and listening guide emailed before event
  • Fidget toys and noise-cancelling earmuffs can be provided upon request (please bring your own if you can)
  • Flexible seating and a separate area for breaks
  • Stretch breaks
  • Visual schedule
  • Xenia Concerts can also provide live ASL interpretation at our events upon request, given sufficient lead time. If you would like to request ASL interpretation, please send a request to kayla.carter@xeniaconcerts.com at least ten (10) days before the event.

Making Strides – Autumn in the Eastend will be held at the Evergreen Brick works, 550 Bayview Ave, Toronto
 
Join us for an in-person 6-part walking series and enjoy activating your body in the beauty of nature.  Get your steps in and then enjoy a chat and a drink in the cafe – on us!  
This series is appropriate for people living with dementia and their care partners who love walking!  We will start with a warm up and then walk for 45 minutes, so please come prepared with comfortable supportive shoes and a bottle of water.
