Enhance your knowledge of Developmental Disabilities (DD) and Dementia. Risk for dementia appears to be 5 times higher for people with DD compared to the general population. This workshop will explore the unique challenges faced by the person and their families and opportunities to support someone who is living with developmental disabilities and dementia. Recognize different ways in which communication occurs and explain how communication changes in a person with dementia. Learn about strategies that can support communication the person and recognize the benefits of validating a person’s feelings when trying to communicate.
