Art in the Moment: AGO Tour

This is a one-hour guided tour of the AGO for people living with dementia and their caregivers. The tour is facilitated by an experienced AGO Docent and is assisted by Alzheimer Society of Toronto’s volunteers.

Please note: Refreshments are not included in this tour. Your ticket will be valid for the rest of the day so please feel free to explore the museum after the guided tour.

This tour is part of the Baycrest ArtOnTheBrain experience. Following the tour, guests will be given limited access to a fun, online activity (app) that is designed to enhance museum visits. Additional details will be provided during the tour.

Active Minds Social Club

The Active Minds Social Club caters to individuals under the age of 65 who have been diagnosed with dementia. The program offers an inclusive, age-appropriate space for recreational, cognitive and social stimulation, while offering respite opportunity for caregivers. 

The Social Club is offered at no cost and includes breakfast, lunch and regular outings.

Every Monday and Friday

Morning: 9:00 am to 2:00 pm

Afternoon: 11:00 am to 4:00 pm

Program hours are flexible and can accommodate half days or full days if needed.

Art Series

Join us for an 6-week art series workshop to learn, experiment, and explore creativity with a variety of art projects and mediums. This workshop, offered in an encouraging and relaxing environment and by a professional art teacher, is for people living with dementia and their caregivers.

Studies have shown that art making promotes relaxation, improves the mood and reduces the stress related to memory loss and caregiving.

The failure-free environment in our art program can help the participants living with dementia and their caregivers to build relationships and gain confidence.

No experience is necessary! Materials and refreshments are provided.

Dates and Time:

Mondays – February 24 and March 2, 9, 12, 23 and 30 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Please note: the entrance is behind the building. Free parking at the parking lot behind the building
