The Young Leaders Council (YLC) of the Alzheimer Society of Toronto (AST) is a group of young professionals who are passionate about community leadership. We aim to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias while raising funds to offer support, and provide information and education to people with dementia, their families and their caregivers.
The YLC is already established in the Toronto community as the organizing body behind Memory Ball – a highly anticipated annual fundraising event. Since its inception in 2011, Memory Ball has raised more than $410,000!
While the Memory Ball Committee isn’t currently accepting new members, YLC is looking to expand!
The YLC focuses on three pillars:
Excited yet? There’s more! YLC members will have access to…
- YLC-only pre-sales and news about fun events such as Memory Ball, Walk for Memories, Hot Docs, Spirit of John concert, and more
- A community of peer support
- Exclusive invitations to YLC-only networking events
To join this exclusive donor club of emerging leaders, we ask that you donate $10 a month. Your donation will fund much-needed AST programs like the Music Project, which provides an iPod and personalized playlists FREE OF COST to a person living with dementia and improves their quality of life. You’ll be part of the reason why carers as young as 13 can join uplifting support groups while caring for their parent with Alzheimer’s. You’ll also be supporting fun, recreational programs like the Boomers Club, which is specially designed for people living with young onset Alzheimer’s and their families.
Our community needs a dedicated team of young individuals to raise awareness of dementia and improve the lives of people living with the disease. CLICK HERE to become a member today!
