Explore Art with Jano (ONLINE)

2024-05-04T18:54:05-04:00

Carmen Herrera, Iberic (1949); oil on canvas on board, 40 inches diameter
Explore Art with Jano
Tuesday – April 16th from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM on Zoom

Join us with your curiosity and come ready to share thoughts and ideas. We continue our series on female artists and abstraction with Carmen Herrera (1915, Havana, Cuba – 2022, New York), a painter who explored form and color in compositions that evolved from biomorphic scenes to minimalist geometry. With a keen sense for hard edged figures in boldly contrasting colors, Herrera masterfully played with space both within and outside of the canvas.

Jano Cortijo is a gay, immigrant, bilingual arts educator whose work finds him engaging audiences of various ages, abilities, and backgrounds in museums, classrooms, community centers, or computer screens. Jano encourages critical discussion while connecting the participants’ individual histories and stories with the art and art makers.

This program is appropriate for people living with mild to moderate dementia and their carepartners. A Zoom link will be provided to you in an email once you have registered for this program.
