Frontotemporal Dementia Caregiver Support Group – ONLINE

This monthly support group will provide an opportunity for care partners of individuals living with Frontotemporal dementia to come together to support each other through the caregiving experience.

Learning Objectives:
– Opportunity to share insights with each other related to their personal caregiving experiences
– Become familiar with this specific type of dementia
– Discuss and share different strategies regarding self-care and care for the person they are supporting (including stress, communication and responding to behaviours)
– Learn about how others are adjusting to their own changing relationship
– Receive updated information about the services available at the Alzheimer Society of Toronto

Every 3rd Thursday of the month from 5:30pm to 7:00pm online using Zoom.

If you are caring for someone with Young Onset Dementia (diagnosed under the age of 65), we encourage you to check out our open Young Onset Dementia Caregiver Support Group which can be found every 3rd Thursday of each month from 12-1:30 pm. Garden Wellness Cafe -Summer 2024 (Virtual)

Weekly on WEDNESDAYS: May 15, 22, 29, June 5, 12, and 19 (6 weeks) from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M.
Join the Garden Wellness Cafe to transition cheerfully into summer! Led by certified forest therapy guide and horticultural therapy practitioner, Emma Rooney, learn to connect to nearby nature for your wellness. From the comfort of your home, you’ll have a chance to meet others in a fun and supportive environment and be transported to beautiful outdoor settings through photos, art, and sound.

Our summer 2024 series will include seed starting, flower pressing, and creating a peaceful garden nook. We’ll also be tasting local asparagus and making our own hydrating iced tea. Our final series session will be a chance to celebrate the start of summer and National Indigenous Peoples Day.

This program will be held on Zoom. Participants will be mailed program materials and expected to collect some simple supplies on their own (instructions provided). 

Garden Wellness Cafe is intended for people living with early to mid-stages of dementia, young onset dementia and mild cognitive impairment. Caregivers are invited to attend alongside a person living with dementia or to join us to get ideas for sharing nature-based exploration with the person they are supporting.
